Our National Guard
Strengthening The Future of Our Community

Boise, ID is home to Gowen Field, Headquarters for the Idaho Air National Guard (IDANG) and the 124th Fighter Wing. This joint-use facility is operated through a lease agreement with the Boise Airport, a Department of the City of Boise. The 124th Fighter Wing operates the A-10 aircraft and employs 610 full time Guardsmen and 765 traditional Guardsmen with an estimated economic impact of $155 million.

The A-10 is a legacy aircraft and is continually under threat of retirement. The Treasure Valley and the State of Idaho seek to position the 124th Fighter Wing for a follow-on mission to the A-10 and possible expansion. When evaluated objectively and compared to other military installations, Gowen Field has repeatedly been identified as a facility that should be preserved or expanded.
